What it is good for
Use it to see a look on your own face before you spend time on it in the mirror: Soft glam for a birthday dinner, Bridal for your wedding day, or a trend such as Latte or Nineties that you have never tried. Try several looks on the same photo to compare them, or one look at Soft and then at Bold to see how far you want to go. Keep the one you like to show your makeup artist, or to follow yourself.
Tips for your photo
Take it in daylight, facing a window, and look straight at the camera with your whole face in the frame. Keep your hair off your face and leave your eyes uncovered. A bare face or light everyday makeup works best, so the look starts from your own skin. Avoid filters, beauty modes, strong shadows across your face and photos with more than one person. If you wear a hijab, keep it on: it stays as it is.
What it does not do
It is a preview made by AI, to help you choose before the mirror. It changes only the makeup and keeps your face and its shape, the shape of your eyes, your skin tone and texture, your clothes, the light and the background as they are. It names no products or brands and gives no skin-care, allergy or medical advice. Real makeup will look different depending on your skin, the products you use and how you apply them.
Questions and answers
More answers in HelpHow can I see what a makeup look would look like on me?
Add a photo of your face, pick a look and an Intensity. Petalface puts the makeup on your own photo, so you see it on your face before you try it.
What is the difference between Soft, Medium and Bold?
Intensity sets how strong the look is. Soft is a light touch, close to your own colouring, Medium is clearly there but still easy to wear every day, and Bold gives deeper colour and more definition.
Will it change my face or my skin tone?
No. It changes only the makeup and keeps your features, face shape, skin tone and texture as they are, along with your hijab or any other head covering.
Is it free?
Yes. The free plan makes 3 designs a day, each with a small watermark, and Pro makes up to 50 a day without it. Each look you try on a photo counts as one design.
