Copy a look

Copy a look puts a makeup look you love onto a photo of your own face, so you can see if it suits you before you wear it. Add your photo and a picture of the look: a screenshot or one of the app's makeup ideas. Only the makeup is copied: your face and skin stay as they are.

What it is good for

You saw a look online or at a wedding and wonder how it would look on you. Makeup that suits one face can look quite different on another face, with other eyes, skin and colouring. Add a picture of it and see it on your own photo first: a cut crease before a party, a red lip before a dinner, or a bridal look to show your makeup artist. In Ideas, Try it on me opens Copy a look with that idea's picture already added.

Tips for your two pictures

For your photo, face a window in daylight, look at the camera and keep your whole face in the frame, with your hair off your face. A bare face or light everyday makeup works best. For the look, choose a clear, close picture where the makeup shows well, in good light. A blurry or far-away picture, or a filter that changes the colours, gives the app less to copy.

What it does not do

It is a preview made by AI, to help you decide before the mirror. It copies only the makeup from the second picture and adapts it to your face. It never takes the other person's features and never reshapes your face. Your skin tone and texture, eye shape, clothes, any hijab, the light and the background stay as they are. It names no products or brands and gives no skin-care, allergy or medical advice. Real makeup can look different, depending on your skin, your products and how you apply them.

Questions and answers

More answers in Help
Can I copy a makeup look from a picture onto my own face?

Yes. Add a photo of your face and a picture of the look, and Petalface puts the same makeup on your photo, adapted to your face.

Will I end up looking like the person in the picture?

No. It takes only the makeup from the second picture, never that person's features. Your face, face shape, skin tone and expression stay as they are in your photo.

Does it work if I wear a hijab?

Yes. It changes only your makeup, and your hijab or headscarf stays exactly as it is in your photo.

Is it free?

Yes. The free plan makes 3 designs a day, each with a watermark, and Pro makes up to 50 a day without it. Each look you copy counts as one design.
