What it is good for
Use it when you are thinking about a change and want to see it on you first: dark brown hair warmed up to Caramel, Copper red before an autumn appointment, or a pastel such as Lavender that you are not sure about yet. Try one shade with different techniques to compare a soft Balayage with All over colour, or try several shades with the same technique. Save the one you like and show it to your colourist, so you both start from the same picture.
Tips for your photo
Take it in daylight, facing a window, with your whole face and as much of your hair as you can in the frame. Wear your hair loose and dry, the way you usually wear it, so the new colour follows your own waves, curls or coils. Keep hats and clips off, and avoid filters, coloured lights and photos with more than one person.
What it does not do
It is a preview made by AI, to help you decide before the salon. It changes only the colour of your hair and keeps your face, your skin tone, your haircut and your hair's texture, your clothes, the light and the background as they are. If your hair is covered, the covering stays on. It names no dyes or brands and gives no hair-care, allergy or medical advice. Real colour will look different depending on your hair's own shade, its condition and your salon.
Questions and answers
More answers in HelpHow can I see what a hair colour would look like on me?
Add a photo of yourself, then pick a Shade and a Technique. Petalface colours the hair in your own photo, so you see the shade on you before you book.
What is the difference between Balayage, Highlights, Ombré and a Money piece?
Balayage is soft, hand-painted colour that stays darker at the roots, and Highlights are fine strands of the new colour woven through your own. Ombré keeps your own colour at the roots and blends into the new one toward the ends, and a Money piece colours only the two front sections that frame your face.
Will it change my haircut or my curls?
No. It changes only the colour and keeps your cut, your hairline and your hair's texture, whether it is straight, wavy, curly or coily, along with your face and skin tone.
Is it free?
Yes. The free plan makes 3 designs a day, each with a small watermark, and Pro makes up to 50 a day without it. Each colour you try on a photo counts as one design.
